Madrasah Syllabus
The syllabus for teaching in the evening madrasah will be as detailed below. The structure of the syllabus has been proposed with a division of two groups. One group will consist of students who are able to read and write. We may find that this group has a collection of students with a dramatic age variation, but as we have seen over the past, teaching of these subjects cannot be based on age, but rather it is to be based on capability and learning skills. The second group will comprise of the remaining students, i.e. those who cannot read and write. Below we have listed the subjects and topics which are to be taught throughout the year.

Group 1
Fiqh (Jurisprudence)
• Different types of impurities
• Types of water
• Performing istinja correctly
• Rules surrounding wudhu
• Rules surrounding tayammum
• Rules surrounding masah of the khuffs
• Rules surrounding ghusl
• Rules surrounding salaah (this will include in detail the pre-conditions, necessary requirements and preferred acts of salaah along with the undesirable and forbidden acts in salaah)
Aqaaid (Beliefs)
• Beliefs regarding Allah
• Beliefs regarding Allah’s Angels
• Beliefs regarding Allah’s Books
• Beliefs regarding Allah’s Messengers
• Beliefs regarding the final day
• Beliefs regarding fate and predestination

Hadeeth (Traditions)
A collection of pre-selected ahaadeeth has been chosen for this part of the syllabus. The ahaadeeth number a total of fifteen to be taught throughout the year.

Students will learn briefly about the following Prophets:

• Nuh (PBUH)
• Ibrahim (PBUH)
• Ismail (PBUH)
• Ishaaq (PBUH)
• Yaqoob (PBUH)
• Yusuf (PBUH)
• Ayyub (PBUH)
• Sulayman (PBUH)
• Dawood (PBUH)
• Musa (PBUH)
• Eesa (PBUH)
Students will learn about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in certain detail.
Group 2
Fiqh (Jurisprudence)
• Performing istinja correctly
• Rules surrounding wudhu
• Staying clean
Aqaaid (Beliefs)
• Tauhid
• Some of Allah’s qualities
• Beliefs regarding our Prophet (PBUH)
Akhlaaq/Aadaab (Etiquettes)
• The classroom
• Manners at home
• A good Muslim
• Manner of talking
• Eating and drinking
Duaas (Supplications)
• Before entering toilet
• When exiting toilet
• After Adhaan
• Tasbeeh after salaah
• After drinking milk

Taareekh (Islamic History)
Students will learn briefly about the following Prophets:

Students will learn about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in slight detail.
Please note that the above will be taught in detail along with the provision of worksheets and assessment tools so as to monitor student progress.
Statutory Requirements
The only area remaining now is provision for the learning of the Quran. This is all based on individual effort and capability. There will however be a statutory requirement that all students of group one know by heart the last ten surahs and students from group two know at least two surahs, other than Surah Faatihah.
All students must meet the minimum requirement of knowing the following by heart:
• Kalimah Tayyibah
• Kalimah Shahaadah
• Kalimah Tawheed
• Kalimah Tamjeed
• Imaan-e-Mujmal
• Imaan-e-Mufassal
• Tashahhud
• Durood-e-Ibraahim
In addition to this, students of group one must also know by heart:
• Dua-e-qunoot
• Dua before salaam
• Adhaan
• Iqaamah
